For this wednesday night, William Uyen was not yet signed in for operation.
344 Lancasters, 233 Halifaxes, 12 Mosquitoes on there way to Düsseldorf. The weight of the raid fell in the centre andsouth of the city. 38 Lancasters which took part in this raid made the first large-scale test of the G-H blind bombing device and attempted to bomb the Mannesmann tubular steel works on the northern outskirts of Düsseldorf. |

17 aircraft detailed for operations, Target Düsseldorf. JD373, LW235, LW226, LW295, LW313, LW300, LW318, LW319, JD173, JD376, LW223, LW271, LW321, JD118, LW234, LW237 and LW320 were prepared for this operation. When the day began the fog was so thick that it seemed almost ironies when seventheen aircraft were detailed for operations. As the day progressed however, the mist lifted and by take-off time, it was perfectly clear. |
